Noisy miners

Yianni

If you come to Fort Street's temporary location at Wentworth Park, you'll see and hear all the bird life that surrounds our grounds. Aside from all the birds the city is famous for, we've been distracted by some rather loud channel-billed cuckoos this week.

Our school is home to many noisy miners, a native species of honeyeaters that are notoriously aggressive and territorial. A very young noisy miner joined the students on the playground this week. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it, but the bird must've thought Yianni was a tree and flew up his leg. The students are enjoying watching all the birds grow up - and the birds are definitely enjoying the crumbs we leave on the playground.
